Happy New Year, 2025
Thank you for visiting our website last year, and we hope to maintain a good business relationship with you this year as well.
The blind boxes currently on sale at Swelly, we apologize for the inconvenience, but as of December 2012, they are now sold as sets.
However, these make perfect gifts for classmates, neighbors, or anyone when you want to share a little joy. And of course, keeping them all for yourself can be exciting too—because you never know what you’ll get, and it’s so satisfying to collect a complete set! It’s the kind of experience and thrill that come as an added bonus, making it all the more enjoyable.
Recently, Fukubukuro—the “lucky bags” traditionally sold during Japan’s New Year season—have been gaining popularity in America as well. The thrill they bring feels somewhat similar to blind boxes.
Fukubukuro originally began in the Edo period (1603-1868) when clothing stores started selling leftover fabrics in bulk at a discount. The concept combined with the idea of a lucky bag inspired by Daikokuten, a god of fortune and prosperity, turning these bags into a New Year’s tradition and a symbol of good luck.
Nowadays, many stores have adopted this fun event as a way to sell surplus products and create buzz.
You won’t know what’s inside until you open it! That sense of excitement and anticipation comes with every purchase!
At Swelly, we don’t have fukubukuro this year (though we’d love to do it someday!), but blind boxes might just be the perfect way to share happiness and fun with those around you!
